Uncover how space combat calculates damage, counterattacks, command points, and why visuals lie.
1. The Combat Timeline & Speed
In serious PvP, maxed ships operate on a strict 1-second timeline. Every second, you fire 1 normal attack and the enemy fires 1. Because you hit them, you take counterattack damage, and vice versa. Champion abilities trigger exactly at second 4, and then every 9 seconds in a fixed order.
2. Stats & Tooltip Realities
ATK scales basic strikes, counterattacks, and skills labeled with ATK. INT determines ability output for both champions and ships. DEF reduces incoming damage but has no effect on outgoing damage. Note that testing reveals Cocoon's actual shielding averages 110-150% of DEF in combat, contradicting the in-game tooltip.
3. Damage Reduction & Command Points
Damage Reduction (DR) represents the most effective defensive attribute as it mitigates all incoming sources of damage. Command Points (CP) introduce major power swings: having superior CP relative to your opponent increases your damage and grants bonus DR, making CP upgrades a high priority (a 20 CP lead provides about a 15% swing).
