Editorial: The great recycling, or how FunPlus is killing Foundation: Galactic Frontier | Foundation: Galactic Frontier Wiki

A critical look at aggressive monetization, identical event loops, broken rally mechanics, and dying servers threatening Foundation: Galactic Frontier.
When I first launched FGF Wiki, my goal was not to build a pulpit for settling scores. I simply wanted to gather data, explain combat mechanics, and provide alliances with concrete tools to organize. Like many of you, I believed in the potential of this game. A true space 4X set in the Foundation universe, packed with guild politics, fleet strategy, and a home server worth defending every day, sounded great on paper.
But today, I have had enough.
I spend my days dissecting patch notes, answering questions from lost players, and listening to feedback across Discord. The verdict is clear: the game is running in circles, the community is burning out, and the publisher is content squeezing players dry without delivering anything genuinely new.
I already analyzed the insane cosmetic pricing in my Beacon Fest guide, where a Gram skin approaches $1,000 with zero pity guarantee, alongside free preview versions that expire in just seven days. But the problem goes far beyond a single ship skin. What revolts me as both a player and a content creator is FunPlus's global strategy: aggressive monetization paired with total creative emptiness.
The calendar mirage: copy-paste turned into a system
We are sold a dynamic galactic warfare game. In practice, our daily routine is reduced to a two-week loop repeated over and over until nausea.
Take SvS (Dominion Warzone) and GvG (Guild Duel). On paper, they are two distinct modes. In game reality, they are identical clones. From Monday to Friday, you do the exact same chores: clearing the same resource nodes, burning energy identically, queuing the same upgrades, and dumping speedups to unlock point tiers. The only difference happens on Saturday: either a full server vs server clash around the Star of Xarnas in SvS, or an inter-server guild duel around War Prisms and War Fortresses in GvG. Same rally logic, same point calculations, same fleet attrition.
And what about temporary events? Soccer Cup, Children's Day, Beacon Fest, Navigation Day... Do not look for any mechanical novelty. It is systematically the exact same skeleton:
Daily login grid: The same check-in calendar pasted over with new themed artwork.
Recycled chore checklist: Identical tasks mirrored directly from standard daily quests.
Gacha or dice minigame: The Navigation Dock formula re-skinned with cosmetic dice and tokens.
Overpriced event store: Exorbitant token costs requiring heavy spending to reach top rewards.
The graveyard of promises: where did United Frontline go?
What enrages me most is the stark asymmetry in development priorities. When it comes to opening a gacha store or rolling out a paid bundle, the timing is accurate to the second. But as soon as a feature requires design work, balance, or technical care, it vanishes into a black hole.
Remember United Frontline? The event was supposed to inject fresh air and genuine cross-alliance cooperation outside the mundane SvS routine. It was deployed painfully, pulled in a panic, and since then, radio silence. Not a single update, no revamp date, nothing. The same fate met Tower Defense, a mode requested by dozens of players weary of pure spreadsheet stat wars: shelved indefinitely. If a mechanic does not immediately drive compulsive resource bundle purchases, it apparently does not deserve developer attention.
Meanwhile, content is being sold on credit. Unlocking the fourth fleet was presented as a major milestone. Many invested considerable time and money to upgrade their hangars. The result? The legendary champion pool is so thin that fielding a viable composition is nearly impossible, especially for Beam-focused fleets. And what did FunPlus reply in their official August feedback? That these heroes are 'under design', with no release date in sight. Selling an empty chassis and charging us for the privilege of waiting on the engine is unacceptable.
109 public tickets on Trello and a cracking foundation
Publishers often dismiss criticism by pointing to a 'vocal minority'. Except this time, the proof is public and sourced straight from their own tracking board.
On the official issue tracker on Trello, there are currently 109 public cards. This board validates, point by point, the exact exasperation players endure every day:
Broken Auto-Join Rally: Alliance members silently dropped from queues, rallies freezing overnight, forcing guild officers to manually babysit attacks for hours.
Incomplete combat reports: No clickable coordinates, impossible to verify if a target held cargo, and crippled sharing that undermines alliance diplomacy and pacts.
Missing quality-of-life tools: Having to click dozens of times on trade posts because a simple 'Claim All' button has still not been built.
Hidden rules and undocumented math: Contested garrison captain selection is unknown, joint rally buffs are unexplained, and ships decelerate in PvP chase without clear data.
Servers dying in complete indifference
The most alarming reality remains the state of our galaxies. Players who reach T7 hit a wall of emptiness. On Saturdays, rival servers do not even bother raising shields or logging in. Encounters are decided in advance by spending gaps, and players reasonably refuse to serve as cannon fodder.
The logical solution would be active server merges and fluid migration. Instead, we have an interstellar migration system tightly locked behind absurd server age brackets, preventing active guilds from regrouping (like players stuck and unable to join comrades on Server 1004). And when asked about merging dying servers, the studio's answer is surreal: it is not planned, as they prefer to 'observe the ecosystem evolve'. Watching servers empty out is not a strategy, it is abandonment.
To top it off, Season 2, originally promised for August, was postponed to September 14, and only for Servers 1001 to 1016. All other servers are left in complete darkness, asked to keep funding recycled events while waiting for their turn to be noticed.
What we now expect from FunPlus
Neither I nor the community are asking for the impossible. We know a game needs to be profitable. What we refuse is disrespect.
If FunPlus wants to save this game before alliances leave for good, clear action must be taken on five priorities:
Stop the fake event masquerade: Break out of the copy-paste GvG and SvS loop with real game mechanics. Bring back United Frontline with proper balance instead of burying it.
End predatory gachas without safety nets: Add a transparent, quantified pity system on every paid draw, and permanently remove the insult of 7-day temporary skins.
Finish content before monetizing it: Do not release a fourth fleet without releasing the heroes required to pilot it at the same time.
Fix core mechanics and convenience: Fix Auto-Join Rally once and for all, introduce bulk claim buttons, and give players useful, actionable combat logs.
Save dying servers and alliances: Open interstellar migration widely so entire guilds can move together, and schedule real merges for abandoned servers.
